The victim was identified as Le Thi Nhat Linh, a third grade student at an elementary school. A fishing man found the girl's body unclothed on the banks of the Tone River at 6:45 am on March 26. Police have opened the investigation, but no cause of death has been identified.

Le Thi Nhat Linh is currently living in the nearby Matsudo city. She did not go to school on the morning of March 24. Some people in Matsudo city have reported seeing a baby girl similar to the description of the victim, police said. The body site was found about 10km from the school.

According to the description, the victim is about 1m high. When she left for school at 8am on March 24, she wore pink pants and a gray coat, carrying a red backpack. Police said that in the area, they could not find clothes or any other belongings that belonged to the victim.
On the day of the missing, the victim's father reported the police to search for her daughter. Victims live with parents and a younger brother. The victim's mother and brother were in Vietnam at the time of her disappearance. Their family has moved from Kawasaki to Matsudo since December 2015.
